What it is

Why lenses yellow, and how to keep them clear

Headlight lenses are plastic, and the intense sun at 5,280 feet breaks down their factory coating faster than most owners expect. The result is a hazy, yellow lens that scatters your light and looks tired. We sand back the oxidation, polish the lens clear, and seal it with a UV protectant so it stays clear instead of clouding over again in a few months. It is a small job that makes an older vehicle look cared for and helps you see better at night.

“My experience with Ride N' Shine and Eric was was phenomenal from beginning to end. I received a detail, windshield chip repair, headlight restoration, and window tinting. I was able to schedule everything I needed online, everything was able to get done in 1 day (first place I found that could do everything I wanted plus some!) and the appointment was less than a week from when I scheduled! Eric went over everything with me thoroughly and made recommendations, not "sale pitchy" add ons. I will definitely be taking my truck there next and highly recommend them to everyone!”

FAQ

Common questions

How long does restoration last?
With the UV sealant we apply, a restoration typically holds up for a year or more before the lenses start to haze again. Without a sealant, cheaper restorations often cloud back over within months. Keeping the vehicle out of constant sun helps it last longer.
Restore or replace?
If the lens is only clouded on the surface, restoration is a fraction of the cost of new headlights and gets you the same clear result. If a lens is cracked or the damage is inside, replacement is the honest call, and we will tell you which one you are looking at.
