Tonneau covers and truck bed covers, installed in Arvada

A soft roll-up starts at $399 before installation and an electric retractable at $2,799.99. The right one depends on how you use the truck, not on the price. We sell and install five styles, plus Access LOMAX, and help you choose. A soft roll-up, hard folding or hard roll-up cover takes about 45 minutes in our shop, and you're welcome to wait.

How to choose

Choose by how you use the bed, not by the brand

Four questions decide it: what stays in the bed overnight, how often you haul something taller than the rails, whether a rack is in your plans, and how much rear window you want clear with the cover open. A soft roll-up is the least expensive way to cover the bed. Hard roll-up and hard folding covers add real security. A retractable disappears into a canister, and the electric one does it from a key fob.

“We’ll be taking all our cars here. Eric and his team just did the 3M protective film on our new Tundra. The front bumper and grill are not simple applications, Eric made sure to talk us through what to look for if any of the film isn’t holding and to bring it back in and he’d fix it for us. He also tinted the front windows and they’re a perfect match to the rest. Their prices are very competitive, but it’s the absolutely top notch customer service, communication, and workmanship that make it an easy decision to come back. We’ll be getting our tonneau cover for our truck bed, ceramic coating for our older with a lot of life in her SUV, and will start using them to detail our cars given our great experience and the fact that everyone else continues to have the same.”

Soft covers hide cargo; hard covers protect it

Every cover hides cargo. A soft vinyl cover like the Lo Pro stops there, because vinyl can be cut. Hard folding, hard roll-up and aluminum retractable covers put a real barrier over the bed, and with the tailgate locked they are much harder to get into. If tools stay in the bed overnight, start with a hard cover. None is theft-proof.

Covers that hold up to Colorado snow, hail and ice

Hard covers carry more snow than soft ones: the MX4 and Revolver X4s are rated for 400 lb evenly distributed and the Retrax covers for 500 lb, while TruXedo lists no rating for the Lo Pro. Clear snow and ice before you open any cover, and never force one that has iced over. None carries a hail rating; a garage is still the only real hail protection.

In normal Front Range use, major winter problems are not typical, though extreme snow, ice or cold can affect any cover with moving parts. For track, drain and seal care, follow the maker's current guidance for your cover.

Every cover we install is weather-resistant, not waterproof. A little water can get in during heavy rain, in a high-pressure car wash or as snow and ice melt, and retractables drain what gets past the seals through tubes.

What installation involves and how long it takes

Most covers clamp to the bed rails with no drilling, and the makers rate the installs at 30 minutes to an hour, so plenty of owners do it themselves. In our shop, a soft roll-up, hard folding or hard roll-up cover takes about 45 minutes, a manual retractable about 90 minutes and an electric retractable about 2.5 hours. You're welcome to wait.

On every cover we confirm the part before ordering, square the rails, set the clamps and latches, route drain tubes on a retractable, wire an electric cover the way its maker specifies (normally straight to the battery through the required fuse), check the tailgate and any rack or drawers, and show you how to use and care for it. You leave with a finished truck, not a box on the porch.

Common trucks

The bed length and a few factory features decide which covers fit. We also fit covers to the Ranger, Maverick, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier, Titan and Gladiator. Send us your year, make, model and bed length and we confirm the part number before ordering.

Planning to add a rack later?

Thinking about crossbars, a bed rack, bike or kayak carriers or a rooftop tent? Tell us before you choose a cover.

The BAKFlip MX4 TS, BAK Revolver X4ts and RetraxPRO XR have T-slot rails built in, so compatible racks mount above the bed and the cover still works underneath. Availability depends on the cover, truck, bed and rack. For a camping or overland build, tell us the whole plan and we will work back from what you want the truck to do.

A tonneau cover and DECKED drawers work together

A tonneau cover protects what is above. DECKED organizes what is below: locking drawers for tools, camping and recovery gear under a covered bed. We sell and install both, and check that the cover and drawers fit your truck together before ordering.

When a topper fits better than a tonneau cover

A tonneau cover makes more sense ifA truck topper makes more sense if
You want the look of an open pickupYou need far more enclosed space
You haul cargo too tall for a topperYou stack gear above the rails or want side access
You want the whole bed open quickly, for lessYou are building for camping or overlanding

Work trucks: start with what is in the bed

What rides in the bed decides the cover. For tools and equipment we weigh security, how often you need the whole bed, rack, DECKED and tool box fit, and how often the cover opens: a contractor in the bed 30 times a day wants something different from someone who opens it twice a week. We also install toppers, drawers, running boards, lift kits and hitches, so the whole truck can be planned in one shop.

Protect the rails while the cover goes on

Every cover clamps onto the painted bed rails, where cargo also scrapes. We can put paint protection film on the rails and bed caps at the same visit.
