What it is

A hard, bonded layer that protects the paint you already paid for

A ceramic coating is a liquid glass layer that chemically bonds to your clear coat and hardens into a durable shell. It adds gloss, repels water, and resists the UV, bird droppings, and mag chloride that would otherwise etch bare paint. At 5,280 feet and higher, the sun is intense and the winters are harsh, and regular washing gets noticeably easier because dirt and road film have a harder time bonding to the coating. Ceramic handles chemical and UV damage. For rock chips, paint protection film is the right product, and many owners pair the two.

Ride N' Shine prices ceramic coatings as complete packages. Every starting price includes coating the painted surfaces, exterior plastics, all glass and the wheel faces, and every tier includes decontamination and paint correction as needed. Some shops price those surfaces separately, so when you compare quotes, compare what each one includes as well as the starting price. The final price depends on the size of the vehicle and the condition of the paint, and a quote takes about a minute.

What to expect

How it works

1 · Inspection & washWe inspect the paint, note any defects, and give the vehicle a thorough decontamination wash so the coating bonds to clean clear coat.
2 · Paint correctionWe correct the paint as needed first: a single-stage polish to reduce lighter swirls and imperfections, or a two-stage cut and polish for heavier defects. Existing paint defects remain visible beneath the coating unless they are corrected beforehand.
3 · Application & cureWe hand-apply and level the coating panel by panel, then let it cure so it hardens into a durable, bonded layer.
4 · Handoff & warrantyWe walk you through simple aftercare, register your warranty with the manufacturer, and hand back a vehicle that is ready for Colorado.

Most coatings take about 1.5 business days in the shop, whichever tier you choose. Vehicle size and paint condition can change that. If you need a ride while the car is here, tell us when you book and we will help. Drop-off and pick-up hours: Mon–Fri · 8am–5pm.

FAQ

Common questions

Is ceramic coating worth it in Colorado?
On a vehicle you plan to keep and will wash properly, usually. High-altitude UV and winter mag chloride are what a coating is built to resist, and washing gets noticeably easier. If rock chips are the main worry, paint protection film is the better fit, and on a car you are not keeping long, a good detail may be all it needs. Is ceramic coating worth it? →
Ceramic coating vs. PPF: which do I need?
They solve different problems. Ceramic handles UV, chemicals, and cleaning. Paint protection film handles physical impact like rock chips. Many Colorado drivers do film on the impact zones and ceramic everywhere else. Our full comparison guide breaks it down.Ceramic coating vs PPF, compared →
How long does a ceramic coating last at altitude?
Our tiers carry 5-, 7- and 9-year Owner's Pride warranties. How long a coating performs within its term depends on how it is washed, whether the car is garaged, and how long road salt sits on it between washes. Tell us how long you are keeping the vehicle and we will point you at the right tier. How long ceramic coating lasts →
Can I still wash my car normally?
Yes, and it gets easier, because dirt and road film have a harder time bonding to a coated surface. Hand washing is preferred, and touchless automatic washes are fine. We do not recommend automatic washes that use brushes or cloth, because they can scratch and swirl the paint. Wait one week after pick-up before the first wash, and we walk you through the rest at handoff. How to wash a ceramic coated car →
How much does ceramic coating cost?
Our Silver 5-Year starts at $1,395, Gold 7-Year at $1,595, and Platinum 9-Year at $1,895. Those prices include coating the paint, exterior plastics, glass and wheel faces, which some shops price separately. The final price depends on the size of the vehicle and how much paint correction it needs, so tell us the vehicle and its condition and we will send an honest recommendation.Ceramic coating cost, by tier and vehicle size →
What are the downsides of ceramic coating?
It costs more than wax or sealant. It does not stop rock chips or scratches that go through the clear coat, which is the job of paint protection film. It needs regular, proper washing to perform through its term. And existing paint defects remain visible beneath the coating unless they are corrected beforehand, which is why we correct the paint as needed first. The downsides, from a shop that sells it →
Is ceramic coating worth the money?
On a vehicle you plan to keep and will wash properly, usually yes. The coating resists UV, road salt and bird droppings for years and makes washing noticeably easier. On a short lease, or a car that goes through brush car washes, a good detail or a shorter-term protection package may fit better. Is ceramic coating worth it? →
What is better than a ceramic coating?
It depends on what you want the protection to do. If rock chips are the main concern, paint protection film is the better product. If you want gloss, easier washing, and resistance to UV and chemicals, a ceramic coating fits. Many Colorado drivers put film on the front end and a coating on the rest. And for a car you are selling soon, a good detail with a paint sealant may be all it needs.Coating, sealant, wax and film compared →
